for Flute, Piano and Chamber Orchestra
was composed at the suggestion of a
French flute player René le Roy, to whom
Darius Milhaud also makes reference to
in the title of his wind quintet, La chemi-
nee de Roi René. Schulhoff wrote the
work (lasting 20 minutes) for le Roy and
himself, a rousing piece.
